Oh, that Northern Illinois University is a winner, alright. I know it well, and, Wowsa! It's a very, very close second to that Winterland show I suggested.

I'm pretty sure if you're a fan of that NIU show than you've likely heard Phil exclaim after the opener "This is the greatest day of my life!" I've tried to find out why (maybe his first kid being born or something???) but I've come to no conclusion. Anyway, yes, Yes, YES!!! That's one of the best ever for sure.

Actually, no I haven't! Is it audible on any of the sources? Jerry absolutely crushes that "Might as Well" to open, but I never caught Phil saying that...please let me know if there's a "best source" to catch that!

One thing I do point out to people about 10/29/77 is at the "end" of Sugar Mag, before they launch into the SSDD section, Mickey and Billy do an INSANE dueling drum duet, and when they're done you can literally hear Bobby laughing as he starts singing "Sunshine Daydream"...Donna too, I think. Clearly they all had waaaayy too much fun that night. Wish I'd been there!

After 'Must Have Been the Roses', Phil comes on the mic and says "I just want all of you to know, that this is the happiest day of my life". Happens about 1 - 2 minutes after the end of song during "Dead Air". Can certainly be heard on the CM audience, but I think it is also there on the CM soundboard. That little juicy tidbit makes this show all the more special. Only time I remember that I've heard talk like that into the microphones is at Veneta in 1972. And that's a pretty good show, too ;)
